Media technology means ...
... taking a closer look at the technology behind the media. The five-year course of studies consists of a well-balanced mix of information technology, media technology, media design, and media economics.
The course concentrates on the engineering aspects of media (mainly video, audio, Internet as well as computer graphics, music, and animation). In the combination I have chosen, however, it is complemented perfectly by extensive knowledge of media and commercial aspects.
As a graduate of the course in "Media Technology", I will receive the German "Diplom" degree and will dispose of the fundamental skills needed for producing media technically and from a content point of view (e.g. planning and executing complex media projects, implementing innovative technologies on the media market).
The high share of internships and practical projects that formed part of my studies allowed me to gain substantive insights into work procedures and offered numerous opportunities for working independently towards clear goals:
Internship (at least 20 weeks working on an independent project with an engineering focus at an external company), practical workshops (practice-oriented seminars that took place during semesters), multimedia project (project carried out under one's own responsibility within the university during the semester) and media project (a project of at least 200 hours, also carried out under one's own responsibility).
For example, some of the courses and focus areas during the studies were:
Electro-acoustics
Video technology
Audio and recording studio technology
Marketing
Computer graphics
Computer animation
Project management
Cost and financial accounting
Technical language
Media law
Programming languages
Business administration
